The Cheatham County Chapter of the National Beta Club
has been in existence since it was first chartered in
1936. The goal of the Beta Club is to promote academic
excellence, good character, and community service on
the part of high school students.
Membership in the
club is by invitation, extended to students in the
tenth-twelfth grades who are enrolled in the High-Ranking
curriculum, and whose GPA is at least a 3.25. The student
must meet certain standards of behavior and must perform
five hours of service to his or her community each semester
in order to maintain his or her membership. The highlight
of the year for Beta Club members is the initiation of
its new members, who have to dress up in designated costumes
and entertain other students in the cafeteria.
